Tony D’Angelo finds himself back in the NXT Championship picture heading into Saturday night’s Stand & Deliver, but he faces an uphill challenge in winning the title for the first time.
D’Angelo will be in a fatal four-way match against NXT Champion Joe Hendry, Ricky Saints and Ethan Page. Almost a year ago, it was his stablemate Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo who turned him on at Stand & Deliver. The family officially split in July, and D’Angelo would return to action in December with a completely fresh look.

The family stood behind him and he went for the NXT Championship.
“I learned that you can’t put all your faith and trust in others,” he told Pakinomist Digital in a recent interview. “You have to go with your gut. I did that with The Family. I did that with ‘Stacks’ and then you saw how it turned out. It could be your closest ones. You never know. You have to trust your gut. Go with what you think is right and I think it can’t really lead you down the wrong path.”
D’Angelo made it clear earlier this month that he was after Hendry and the championship. Returning to the ring, he was able to submit Cutler James and then Dion Lennox at Vengeance Day.

D’Angelo told Pakinomist Digital that he is laser-focused on the championship.
“I’m no stranger to it. I went to war with Ilja Dragunov at Stand & Deliver in Philly. I fell a little short on that one. But look, I’m on the road to destruction right now,” he said. “I don’t think there’s anything that’s going to stop me from getting what I want and that’s the NXT Championship.
“I mean, it feels good, but I’m not nervous. I don’t feel like I’m in deep water right now. I feel like I actually have the edge in this one.”
D’Angelo is a one-time NXT North American Champion, two-time NXT Tag Team Champion and won the Heritage Cup once.
