I have recently jumped back in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 with two feet, initially my friends and I saw that we could wipe up the extensions that we had missed, but I have been completely withdrawn, totally.
And it seems like it was the perfect time since the game’s latest season, Rise Up, has just dropped and has added a bunch of new modes, difficulties, items, game modes and more that will keep my engagement with the game going extremely strong for weeks.

Elsewhere, and just as I thought I’d finished polishing my latest loadout, the new season has also dropped in some pretty tasty gear that’s caught my attention as well.
While I’m not constantly rolling or plowing hours and hours into specific missions to make even the slightest improvement to my gear, I’m deeply invested in my Critical Hit Chance/Damage, non-headshot rifle build right now. The arrival of the Core Strength gear set looks ideal for me to boost them as well as when switching weapons between my rifle and LMG. It will arrive at the right time so hopefully I can put it into my build. Excellent.

Elsewhere, the underrated (in my opinion) Classified Assignments return with two new missions this season. These are standalone experiences that appeal most to those players, like myself, who want to explore places and enjoy a bit of it Division 2 storytelling.
The first is the Library of Congress Retrieval, which is available now as part of the season launch, and The Capitol Globe Anomaly is coming later.

There are also changes coming to the Retaliation mode, which my friends and I have found to be great for loot for certain parts or brands – but also tough as nails. And it doesn’t look like they’re getting much easier with this latest change, as the formidable Black Tusk faction can now be incited to start a Retaliation event, but also offer their own special Maneuver targets and Kill Squads.
This is offset by a generous boost to the time you’re allowed to collect loot at the end of a retribution from 30 to 90 seconds. But boy, from my experience, it will be a challenge to consistently get to the end of such an encounter, especially against Black Tusk.
It’s never quite been a case of ‘just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in’ with me and Division 2 – I always come back to it with my friends and will continue to do so – but the perfect storm to play The resurgence of the department and the new season dropping means i’m probably in Division 2 a while longer this time.
It’s one of my favorite games of all time and updates like this continue to prove it and draw me back – despite my great anticipation and desire for the arrival of The Division 3.
