- Samsung’s old and new TVs now get Google Cast support
- It makes transferring content to the big screen much easier
- The rollout may take some time to reach all eligible models
Google says we won’t see any more Chromecast dongles, but the Google Cast technology they used lives on – and Samsung has started rolling out support for it to select models launched in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
As spotted by Android Authority, the move means these TVs no longer rely on Samsung’s own Smart View technology to deliver content to the big screen. It gives users much more flexibility, especially those without Galaxy phones.
We had previously heard that Google Cast would be supported on all new Samsung TVs by 2026 through the built-in One UI Tizen software – models such as the Samsung S99H/S95H – and now we know that older sets will also get the upgrade.

Exactly which older TVs are eligible isn’t entirely clear, but updates are popping up all over the web: Over on Reddit, one user reports that their 2024 Samsung S90D has now gained the functionality. However, a full rollout will likely take some time.
Google Cast for everyone

We hope that all Samsung TVs launched in the last few years or so will get the Google Cast feature. One of its advantages is how light and simple it is, so there should be no problems with hardware properties.
As reported by FlatpanelsHD, Tizen update v2115 is the one to watch out for. The article says the rollout is now “confirmed” for 2024, 2025, and 2026 models, though it doesn’t mention the 2023 TVs mentioned by Android Authority.
Google Cast is natively supported by the Google TV platform (used by manufacturers such as Sony) and by the webOS software developed by LG. All of this means that Chromecast dongles aren’t required – although of course you can still get the Google TV Streamer.
If you’re new to Google Cast, it’s a standard way to stream content to a larger TV screen via integrated controls available in a variety of Android and iOS apps, as well as YouTube on the desktop and the Google Chrome browser.
