Prince Harry is focused on one key goal, whether or not his return to Britain would see an invitation from King Charles: the safety of his children.
The Duke of Sussex has made it clear from the start that he does not feel safe enough to bring his wife, Meghan, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, back to the UK after his police protection was unceremoniously withdrawn.
There was a report suggesting Harry is awaiting an invitation to Sandringham this summer, along with an “automatic” security detail for him and his family. Harry will be back in the UK for a promotional event for the Birmingham Invictus Games and to attend an annual WellChild Award ceremony.
According to a friend quoted by Sunday Times Harry would “love” to accept the invitation he was given. Although The Mirror reports that this is not an indication that Harry is dropping hints about needing one.
While Harry isn’t opposed to the idea, the schedules are aligned, but he doesn’t go out of his way to ask for one. He is laser-focused on the risk assessment verdict expected to be published this year.
The update comes after royal commentators were not happy about the king extending the invitation to Harry.
Furthermore, a friend of Charles was quick to respond to the report that if Harry “really wants” to see his father, then it would be better if his camp “allowed such matters to be discussed in private”.
