On Sunday, the Sharjah Media Office said that three Pakistani nationals and one Nepali national were injured after a fire broke out at Khor Fakkan Port due to falling debris from missile interception by the UAE’s air defense systems.

“Competent authorities confirm the outbreak of a fire at the site and emergency response teams have promptly and effectively started tackling it, with the fire now under control and cooling operations underway,” it said. The statement added: “The incident resulted in one person of Nepali nationality sustaining a serious injury and being transferred to hospital for medical treatment, in addition to three persons of Pakistani nationality sustaining injuries ranging from minor to moderate.”

The attack came amid escalating regional tensions, with the Gulf countries increasingly targeted by Iran’s retaliatory missile and drone campaign during the ongoing US-Israeli war. Amid the conflict, four Pakistani nationals have died in the United Arab Emirates due to falling debris from missile interceptions.

The incident comes as an intensification of regional tensions following a sharp escalation between the US and Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have shot down several US aircraft, including C-130 transport planes and Black Hawk helicopters, during a rescue operation in Isfahan province as Tehran stepped up its retaliatory attacks.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump warned Iran that it would “live in hell” if it failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route that has been effectively closed for weeks. The conflict has sparked missile and drone attacks across the Gulf states, targeting key infrastructure and heightened fears of greater regional instability.
