Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle has taken surprising steps during her visit to Australia, leaving people in shock.
The former Suits The star avoided her royal title with her husband, the Duke of Sussex, causing problems for hospital workers at a children’s facility in Melbourne.
They expressed uncertainty about the royal protocol regarding the couple’s titles.
During the opening day of her and Harry’s four-day Australian tour, Meghan went for an unexpected and notably informal stance.
When Steve Cotterill, Australia’s first poet laureate, asked about the proper forms of speech at the Australian National Veterans’ Art Museum, Harry replied with a shrug: “Wherever you want.”
On the other hand, Meghan reportedly seems to avoid her royal leanings, replying: “Call me Meg?”
The casual exchange set the tone for the couple’s engagements with military veterans throughout the day. Staff were assured by an aide that a relaxed approach would be welcomed.
“Harry and Meghan are fine,” a staffer confirmed. “They’re pretty laid back.”
