- Familiar Faces sends detailed notifications that tell you exactly who is calling
- It can store the names and faces of up to 50 people and is linked to your account
- It’s rolling out now to Ring Pro and Ring Pro Intelligence subscribers
Ring has launched a new feature for your video doorbell and security cameras that will let you know exactly who is calling at a glance. When enabled, Familiar Faces will send you notifications, including the name of the visitor, so you don’t have to check the video footage yourself.
Familiar Faces can identify up to 50 people, which according to Ring corresponds to the number of individuals that the human brain can recognize.
Advantageously, you can also choose not to receive notifications when your doorbell or camera spots a certain person. For example, you can choose not to be informed when your partner comes and goes, or if a gardener or window cleaner works in your home. You can still get a warning if your device detects other people in your list of known faces or a stranger.

Put names on faces
Familiar Faces is now rolling out in the UK for people with a Ring Pro or Pro Intelligence subscription. The function supports both 2K and 4K cameras and doorbells as well as selected HD models.
You’ll receive a notification when Familiar Faces is available for your device, but you’ll need to enable it manually if you want to try it out. Your folder with famous people is secured inside your account and is encrypted for security. You are in control and can add, edit and remove people from the list at any time.
