WWE star Kit Wilson had to go through some character changes before appearing again on “Friday Night SmackDown.”
He lost his Pretty Deadly tag team partner to a serious injury and had to start his own singles run. Although the recent run has yet to yield any championships, he has been able to attract attention in a way that hasn’t really been seen before on WWE TV.

Wilson’s gimmick evokes toxic masculinity among his fellow professional wrestlers. He reads poetry, writes in his diary and draws attention to “toxic” superstars.
He told Pakinomist Digital that he thought “things are looking up.”
“I’m feeling pretty good,” Wilson said before WrestleMania 42. “You know, obviously, it came from a sad place, it came from a dark place, losing my tag team partner. He’s out injured right now. I miss him. I hope he’s back. But yeah, we’re on a streak right now. We’re looking for a singles.
“I feel more confident than ever. I’m more passionate than ever. I feel this fire in me. And look, things haven’t gone my way. I’ve lost. I’ve lost. I’ve been cursed. I’ve been cursed. I feel so good, I’m pushing forward. I’m pushing all the way to the top and I’m not getting to the top.”
Wilson’s character has caught on so much that he has been able to pick up some new fans.

The average sports fan, who may not be interested in WWE or passing through SmackDown while channel flipping, has been able to stop and watch Wilson in action.
“I think that’s something that’s very big and important to me. When I started, there were a lot of people that I looked up to who weren’t the stereotypical people. I didn’t like the kind of ‘bad a–‘, I didn’t like the bold, aggressive, angry man for no reason. I liked the lively characters. When I started in the independent scene in the UK, now I’m the independent scene in the UK, I’m now independent in the UK. very much because i felt i was more related to him.
“So for me to be able to do this specific character right now, this Kit Wilson era, it’s kind of inspiring because who might see themselves through it, because it’s not the stereotypical aggressive, angry, ‘toxic’ man, yeah, I feel really good about that.”
Wilson was not scheduled in a match at WrestleMania 42, but he did appear in a segment with John Cena, The Miz and Danhausen.
Unfortunately, Danhausen’s allies ended up punching him in the groin.

Still, going from a mid-card singles competitor to being involved in WrestleMania in every respect is a huge accomplishment in itself.
