KARACHI:

The body of a 12-year-old boy who went missing after falling into a water main two days ago was recovered from the Saadi Town area on Sunday morning, Rescue 1122 reported.

According to a spokesperson of Rescue 1122, the victim, identified as Zahid, fell into the waterline in Sachal Ghazi Goth on Friday. A rescue operation had been underway for two days before the body was finally located and moved to a mortuary.

He said Zahid was a student of a local madrasa and was the eldest among three brothers and two sisters. His father is a laborer and the family originally hails from Loralai, Balochistan.

The water line, commonly referred to as the Saadi Town canal, belongs to the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC). Preliminary information suggested that Zahid may have accidentally fallen into the line while playing nearby.

Residents said similar incidents had taken place at the site in the past, with no apparent security measures taken by the relevant authorities.
