Watch Italian Open 2026 live streamsda Foro Italico in Rome welcomes the biggest names in men’s and women’s tennis for the last 1000 event before the French Open starts at the end of May. Defending men’s champion Carlos Alcaraz is again absent due to injury, while Jasmine Paolini defends her home crown in the women’s tournament.
Following Paolini’s triumph last year for a first Italian winner in the women’s tournament in 40 years, Jannik Sinner is aiming to end half a century without a home winner in 2026. Not since Adriano Panatta in 1976 has an Italian man won this tournament and Sinner is the odds-on favorite to make history – a sixth straight in a 1000.
However, the 24-year-old has a difficult draw with Jakub Menšík and in-form Barcelona Open winner Arthur in his section. Novak Djokovic is back for the first time since Indian Wells as he seeks form ahead of Roland Garros. Alexander Zverev will be hoping to banish memories of his 56-minute destruction of Sinner in the Madrid Open final last week.
The top female players struggled in Madrid as none of Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff and Iga Świątek made it past the last eight. Hopefully the virus that swept through the Spanish capital is also a thing of the past.
As well as the big names, Hailey Baptiste will be hoping to do some damage again after becoming only the second player, after Rybakina, to beat Sabalenka on tour this year, while Paolini will defend her crown following her career breakthrough 12 months ago.
The clay in Rome tends to be a bit slower than other tournaments, so expect some exciting long matches and extended points.
