“Speaker’s Ruling Says Information About Proceedings of Any Session Can’t Be Given”
ISLAMABAD:
The IHC on Tuesday reserved a decision on a petition filed by the National Assembly Secretariat challenging an order by the Pakistan Information Commission regarding the provision of details of parliamentary standing committees.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan heard the case. Lawyer Hafiz Arafat, lawyer for the National Assembly Secretariat, argued to the court that details of assembly meetings or standing committees cannot be given, adding that there is also a ruling from the Speaker on the matter.
“The speaker’s decision states that no information can be given about the proceedings of any session,” the lawyer said.
