May 2026 is shaping up to be a massive month for the horror genre, and I’m excited to have so much to look forward to. Among the new movies coming out, Passenger hopes to make a statement when it hits theaters on May 22.
According to a new teaser for the new horror film, “a lot of people had scary experiences” on set, which has certainly turned up the fear factor. But often horror sets have spooky experiences around them, e.g Undertone‘s set feels haunted.

What other horror movies are coming out in May 2026?
Beside Passengerare plenty of other films that will keep horror fans booked and busy all month. It’s actually one of the strongest line-ups I’ve seen in a while, and you bet I’ll be watching all of these.
Liminal horrors, Backrooms and Finish 8supernatural horror Hokum, and viral sensation Occupation are all out in May, each offering a different story. The range is large and there are lots of original stories that we can dive into.
I have been excited about the marketing too Passenger so far, but with so much on offer, it will certainly have to keep working to stand out from the crowd when we’re inundated with horror movie teasers over the coming weeks.
Synopsis for Passenger teases: “A few weeks into their van’s life adventure, a young couple witness an accident that leaves the driver dead. Soon they are pursued by a demonic stalker who is impossible to outrun and follows them wherever they go.”
Passenger plays on the fear of a demon locking onto its subject and becoming a literal “passenger” with Scary stories to tell in the darkAndré Øvredal directs it. It definitely has the potential to be good, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
