ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan is expected to receive $200 million under the IMF’s Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) program.

The IMF board is likely to take up Pakistan-related issues in an important meeting scheduled for Friday (today), sources said.

The development comes amid progress on climate finance discussions during global financial meetings held in Washington, where participating countries and financial institutions emphasized practical measures to tackle climate change.

According to sources, Pakistan presented its position on climate action financing, budget priorities and resource allocation and highlighted the need for greater international financial support for environment and climate-related projects.

Consultations are also underway on increasing global financial assistance for climate initiatives in developing countries.

Sources said the government had decided to further speed up institutional coordination to tackle environmental challenges and was considering making climate policy a higher priority in the national budget and resource allocation framework.
