- Huawei has announced two new wearables in its new Watch Kids X1 series
- There are two new models, the standard version and a Pro version
- Both models are equipped with solid child safety tools to give you peace of mind
There are two new smartwatches for kids on the market thanks to Huawei, and the company shows how creators of the best smartwatches should really implement child safety.
The two new models, the Huawei Watch Kids X1 and Watch Kids X1 Pro, were unveiled at the tech giant’s innovative product launch in Bangkok earlier this week, where it also announced a number of other new smartwatches joining its family of wearables, including the Watch Fit 5 series, the Watch Ultimate Design Spring Edition and the Watch GT Runner 2 Racing Legend Edition.
Starting at 249 euros (about $293) for the Watch Kids X1 and 349 euros (about $410) for the Watch Kids X1 Pro, both versions pack a 360-degree rotatable display with a 1.82-inch AMOLED screen, as well as a 5MP gree camera and 110 video camera on the front and 110 on the front. call. The X1 Pro dial is also removable so your child can use it as a hand-held camera.
In terms of storage, both models differ slightly. While the standard Watch Kids X1 and Watch Kids X1 Pro support 2GB of RAM, the former has 32GB of storage while its Pro sibling has double that at 64GB, but those are the only major differences between the two. If anything, both match each other in terms of health tracking features.
Both models offer very similar health monitoring tools that pack a punch on the sensor front, which includes one for heart rate monitoring, a gyroscope, an accelerometer for step counting, and a magnetometer for navigation.
Kids’ smartwatches seem to be a pretty hot topic at the moment, especially since Garmin just launched the Bounce 2, but Huawei’s new watch series is really cracking down on kid safety measures in a lot of ways.
First, the X1 series supports dual-band GNSS positioning, dual-band Wi-Fi for indoor assistance and cellular connectivity. Then there is the FamCare app, which puts much of the control in the hands of parents and guardians.
Through this app, you get a direct view of your child’s activity status in real time, so you can set safe and danger zones and receive alerts when your child enters and leaves these areas. In addition to basic control tools like customizing usage limits and setting focus time, FamCare also lets you video call your child through the camera on the X1 watch face – adding another layer of security.
