NA passes unanimous resolution commending armed forces for effective response to India during Marka-e-Haq

warns India not to mistake Pakistan’s desire for peace as weakness; any mishap will be met with full force

The National Assembly (NA) on Monday passed a unanimous resolution expressing a deep sense of national pride and highlighting the unparalleled professionalism, alertness, extraordinary preparedness and decisive response demonstrated by the armed forces on 10 May 2025 in the face of unprovoked and unwarranted Indian aggression.

The resolution moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar lamented that in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist incident on 22 April 2025, in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), a “malicious campaign” was immediately orchestrated by India and reinforced by its state-sponsored media to help the incident be unduly condoned or implicated by Pakistan, even though the incident completely without reason was agreed. government.

It stated that the House condemned that despite a sincere and generous offer by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to participate in any neutral, transparent and credible investigation into what was described as a false flag operation, India continued to launch an unprovoked air strike on Pakistan on May 6, 2025, targeting innocent civilians.

NA paid rich tributes to the armed forces which under the leadership and command of Prime Minister Shehbaz and Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos and delivered a befitting response to the aggression.

The House praised the bravery and operational excellence of the Pakistan Air Force, which quickly established air superiority and shot down several Indian aircraft, including Rafale jets.

It also extended gratitude to all officers, soldiers, airmen and sailors of the armed forces for making Operation Bunyanum Marsoos successful through courage, professionalism and sacrifice.

It further stated that armed forces in retaliatory strikes targeted and destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters, air force and aviation bases, including BrahMos facilities, which had fired missiles into Pakistan, killing innocent civilians. It added that JF-17 Thunder jets destroyed India’s $1.5 billion S-400 air defense system.

The House also praised the Pakistan Navy for its strategic readiness and robust response, which successfully thwarted infiltration attempts and forced the enemy to retreat.

It honored the martyrs of the armed forces who laid down their lives in the line of duty and inflicted defeat on a numerically superior enemy across all domains of warfare, including land, air, sea and cyber.

The resolution acknowledged the contribution and technical expertise of Pakistan’s cyber warfare experts in countering cyber attacks by Indian hackers and stated that several Indian strategic systems were rendered dysfunctional. It also recognized the contribution of the entire nation, including members of both government and opposition.

It further warned India that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be misconstrued as weakness, adding that any misunderstanding against Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would not be tolerated and that the defense forces would respond with full force.

It declared that the House reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering resolve to stand with the armed forces in defending the country’s geographical and ideological borders.

The NA also expressed deep grief over the deaths of family members of political figures and paid tribute to security personnel and others who embraced martyrdom in the recent incidents of terrorism and violence.

During the proceedings, NA speaker Ayaz Sadiq informed the members about the deaths of the 22-year-old son of Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani and the 19-year-old daughter of MNA Muhammad Iqbal Khan. The lawmakers prayed for the deceased and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.

The NA also expressed grief over the deaths of the brother of MNA Sardar Ghulam Abbas, father-in-law of MNA Daniyal Aziz, and former MNA Farooq Azam Malik.

The members paid tribute to Lt. Col. Khalid Hussain, who lost his life during an operation against Fitna al-Khawarijand former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa MPA Maulana Muhammad Idrees, who was also martyred.

NA further condemned the terrorist attack on Bannu Police Station and offered prayers for the police personnel martyred in the incident.

MNA Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri offered collective prayers for all the deceased and martyrs.

Protecting media workers remained the government’s top priority: Tarar

Speaking in the NA on a point of order, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said both the federal and provincial governments were working round the clock to facilitate media channels and address their operational and financial issues to ensure their sustainability.

He further said that the matter would be taken up with the Pakistan Broadcasters Association to ensure that no employees lost their jobs. He emphasized that media workers’ job security was a priority, along with improving their service structure and benefits.

Tarar said schemes related to job security and improved service delivery for media workers would be finalized through consultations, adding that steps would be taken to address the problems faced by media workers in a systematic and structured manner.

The minister further said that the government would work in consultation with coalition partners as well as members of the opposition to jointly address and resolve the concerns of media workers.
