NDMA issues alert for severe weather

Directs provincial and district authorities to remain on high alert and ensure emergency preparedness measures

ISLAMABAD:

The National Disaster Management Authority on Tuesday issued a detailed weather forecast for May 12 to 17, warning of widespread rain, thunderstorms, hailstorms, floods and landslides in several parts of the country.

It directed provincial and district authorities to remain on high alert and ensure emergency preparedness measures.

According to the NDMA, the current weather conditions are in line with the seasonal forecast issued three to four months earlier for the April-June period, adding that advance warnings had already indicated the possibility of severe weather activity in the ongoing season.
