The weather in Lahore provided pleasant relief to residents as heavy rain and hail lowered the temperature on Wednesday.
Areas including Mall Road, Jail Road and Gulberg experienced heavy downpour accompanied by strong winds, making the weather cool and pleasant.
The weather monitoring report of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued at 3.30 pm stated that Lahore City recorded 24 millimeters of rainfall during the last 24 hours while Lahore Airport received 19 mm.
The minimum temperature in Lahore was expected to be around 26 degrees Celsius.
According to the PMD, the weather system responsible for the rainfall was relatively weak and the clouds were expected to disperse soon.
PMD officials warned that warm weather is likely to continue after the current high pressure system subsides.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) chief executive, the operational staff were asked to remain vigilant in the field to ensure timely drainage of rainwater to prevent urban flooding in low-lying areas.
