Ritter described Pakistan as ‘the only game in town’ capable of helping bring the crisis towards a final resolution
Former UN weapons inspector and former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter has praised Pakistan’s diplomatic role in ongoing regional tensions and says Islamabad remains central to efforts to secure a breakthrough between Iran and the US.
Speaking during senior anchor Fahd Hussain’s program ‘Full Frame’ on Express 24/7, Ritter described Pakistan as “the only game in town” capable of helping move the crisis towards a final resolution.
“I want to first of all commend Pakistan for the leadership it has played in this,” Ritter said, adding that Pakistan’s leadership deserved international recognition for its mediation efforts. “If ever there was anyone who deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, the Pakistani leadership who played this very important role deserves it,” he noted.
Ritter – who served as a UN weapons inspector in Iraq in the 1990s and is a frequent commentator on US foreign policy and the Middle East – called on the international community to support Pakistan economically and politically after the conflict.
