National Savings raises profit rates

Special savings certificate/account at 11.6% per annum for the first 5 profit payments

ISLAMABAD:

The government has increased the profit rates on National Savings Schemes and Sarwa Islamic Schemes with effect from 26 May 2026.

According to a release, the National Savings Department has revised the excess rates for certain schemes while maintaining the existing rates for others. As per the notification, it has set the profit rate on the Special Savings Certificate/Account at 11.6% per annum for the first five profit payouts, while the final payout will yield 12.4% per annum.

Correspondingly, the department increased the profit rates on short-term savings certificates. For three-month, six-month and one-year employment, it has set the annual profit rates at 10.84%, 10.58% and 11.23% respectively. The savings account’s profit rate is fixed at 10% per year.

However, it did not make any changes in the profit rates of Defense Certificates, Bahbood Savings Certificates, Pensioners’ Benefit Account and Shuhada Family Welfare Account, which will continue to provide 12% annual profit.

It increased the profit rates of Sarwa Islamic Term Account and Sarwa Islamic Savings Account. The one-year Islamic term account will now offer an expected annual return of 10.93%, while the 5-year account will offer an expected annual return of 11.16%.
