President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday extended congratulations to Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, the government and people of Azerbaijan on their Independence Day.
In a message, the President said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan are bound by a deep-rooted brotherly relationship dating back to their independence, which derives its strength from a common faith, rich shared cultural heritage and values.
He noted that bilateral ties have over the years evolved into a robust and enduring partnership characterized by mutual trust, understanding and steadfast support for each other on matters of core national interest.
President Zardari stated that the people of Pakistan rejoice at the remarkable socio-economic progress, national cohesion and prosperity achieved by Azerbaijan under the dynamic and visionary leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepen and diversify multifaceted cooperation, especially in the areas of bilateral trade, energy relations, defense cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, for the mutual benefit of both brotherly nations.
The President further conveyed his best wishes for the continued peace and prosperity of the people of Azerbaijan.
