At least one person lost his life, and seven others sustained injuries to Sunday in an explosion aimed at a passenger bus traveling from Khuzdar to Rawalpindi, according to officials.

Khuzdar-Vice Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti reported that the bus, on the way along the M-8 Highway, was hit near KHORI, approx. 25 kilometers from Khuzdar City.

The wounded, including the bus leader, who is in critical condition, were immediately switched to the Khuzdar Trauma Center for Treatment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that an improvised explosion device (IED) was planted inside a car parked near the highway. After the incident, law enforcement, including police and frontier corps staff, was enclosed in the area to begin their investigation.

Security measures were intensified throughout Khuzdar and its surroundings in response to the attack, officials added.
