Welcome to June 2026, everyone – and what a great start to the month it is for the top streaming services.
With 13 great new movies and TV shows hitting many of the world’s leading streamers over the past few days, there really is something for everyone to enjoy this weekend (June 5-7). As always, we’ve hand-picked seven new releases that we think are must-sees, so read on to find out what we recommend watching at home before you head back to work on Monday. — Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter
Hoppers (Disney+)
Jumpers is the latest Pixar movie to land on Disney+, and I bet you’ve already seen plenty of memes about it. Tom Lizard has been all over my Instagram feed and made a lasting impression before it was even released in theaters in early March.
All the hype has also been accurate as this is the kind of fun the whole family can enjoy. So settle down and enjoy a story about an animal-loving student who transfers his mind into a robotic beaver to communicate with animals, inadvertently sparking a rebellion among them. It’s really brilliant. — Lucy Buglass, Senior Entertainment Writer
Cape Fear (Apple TV)
Look at
Javier Bardem steps into the shoes of villainous Max Cady in Apple TV Cape Fear. I love seeing him be creepy as always and it’s clear he’s having the time of his life in this role. If the title sounds familiar, that’s because it’s a TV retelling of the 1962 and 1991 movies, which were based on John D. McDonald’s classic novel The executioners.
Anyway, the 10-part Apple TV Original kicked off with a double-episode premiere as we center on Tom and Anna Bowden (Patrick Wilson and Amy Adams), the husband and wife lawyers who put Cady behind bars years earlier. Their idyllic life soon turns into a living nightmare as Cady seeks revenge for what they did.
It’s the ultimate weekend thriller that doesn’t hold back, guaranteed to deliver plenty of scares after a long week. To quote the creepy trailer: “you deserve this”. — LB
Office Romance (Netflix)
Look at
J-Lo back in a rom-com? Is it 2004? No, it’s 2026 and we’ve got a new romantic movie starring Jennifer Lopez in the form of Office romance on Netflix.
As the title suggests, we’re looking at a scandalous workplace relationship here. Lopez plays Jackie, president and CEO of Air Cruz, who runs a tight ship at her company, which included a rigid anti-fraternization policy for all of her employees.
However, that goes out the window with her newest corporate lawyer (Brett Goldstein) when they risk their careers by pursuing a forbidden affair. What makes this even better is the fact that Lopez and Goldstein now have romance rumors for real, meaning that art would totally imitate life. – Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter
Not Fit for Work (Hulu/Disney+)
Look at
After absolutely bombing comfort TV viewing earlier this year with Running point season 2 (sorry not sorry), Mindy Kaling is back with brand new series Not suitable for workwhich is out now on Hulu and Disney+.
Taking the Gen Z work experience and injecting a shot of comedy into the natural misery, Kaling explores the first steps of employment when kids are fresh out of college. It’s funny, disgusting and a little unbelievable, but that’s enough Friends-style undertones throughout to make it very satisfying to watch. — JV
The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4 (Prime Video)
Look at
The Legend of Vox Machinaalso known as Amazon’s animated retelling of popular RPG tabletop group Critical Role’s first Dungeons and Dragons campaign, has returned to Prime Video for its fourth and penultimate season.
Set a year after last season’s finale, which saw the eponymous ragtag team of warriors, wizards, elves and bards go their separate ways, Season 4 sees them drawn back together as a new otherworldly evil awakens to threaten their world.
Episodes one to three are out now, with three more batches – consisting of three episodes apiece – rolling out every Wednesday until the end of June. Enjoy them while you can, too, because the R-rated show’s fifth season, which is currently in development, will be its last. — TP
Pillion (HBO Max)
Look at
This should just be common sense, but before I wax lyrical about how brilliant Pillion is, then don’t watch it with your family this weekend on HBO Max.
Colin (Harry Melling) is a bland, mousy young man who captures biker Rays (Alexander Skarsgård), and the two begin to explore a dominant-submissive relationship. Without a clear definition, their relationship is challenging and beyond unconventional, with Colin growing in character before our eyes. It’s strangely romantic with a strong sense of longing, even though everything that’s actually in sight is anything but.
There’s more sex, nudity and embarrassing conversations than one person can handle, but Pillion is also one of the most profound films I’ve seen in years. Extra shoutout goes to debut director Harry Lighton, who includes an unexpected mention of my hometown, Great Dunmow. — JV
Michael Jackson: The Verdict (Netflix)
Look at
Michael Jackson: The Verdict revisits the high-profile case of the eponymous, controversial and late music superstar, giving viewers a deeper look into what transpired through jurors, eyewitnesses, prosecutors and defense attorneys.
Across three episodes, the documentaries show first-hand accounts from people closest to the case. Tudum describes it as being a “complete historical record of a trial that the public never really got to see”, with contributors including family lawyer Brian Oxman and journalist Martin Bashir.
Expect archival footage, trial notes and media coverage, much of which still causes debate to this day. — LB
