FBR redeploys officers to increase collection

The FBR has given additional charge of key posts to 27 senior officers in the revenue service

ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to introduce major administrative changes to meet tax collection targets and improve the efficiency of the country’s revenue system.

As part of these initiatives, the tax authority has begun to strengthen its administrative capacity by assigning additional responsibilities to senior officers across different structures.

According to sources, the FBR has given additional charge of key posts to 27 senior officers of the Inland Revenue Service.

Grade 20 officers have been assigned temporary duties on a temporary basis for a period of three months, which will remain in effect until permanent appointments are made.

These postings have been done in Lahore, Islamabad and other major cities. Apart from the FBR headquarters, officials have also been assigned additional charge in regional tax offices, large tax payer units, medium tax offices and various directorates.

Sources said experienced officers have been deployed in key areas such as tax reforms, refunds, withholding tax, appeals, intelligence and training to ensure timely resolution of taxpayer issues and to improve overall performance of revenue operations.

FBR officials stated that the objective of these measures is to speed up the tax reform process, strengthen monitoring mechanisms and increase the efficiency of field operations, ultimately leading to improved tax collection across the country.
