Looking for a different day?
A new NEW Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone – meaning some people always play ‘today’s game’ while others play ‘yesterday’s’. If you’re looking for the Tuesday puzzle instead then click here: NEW Strand’s Hints and Answers for Tuesday, June 9 (Game #828).
Strands is the NYT’s latest word game, following the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult though, so read on for my Strands tips.
Want more word-based fun? So check out my NYT Connections today and Quordle Today pages for tips and answers to these games, and Marc’s Wordle Today page for the original viral word game.

NEW Strands today (game #829) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #829, are…
- PHOTO
- FILE
- SOFTWARE
- DOCUMENT
- APPLICATION
- SONG
- SPANGRAM: DOWNLOAD
- My assessment: Hard
- My score: 1 tip
My first thoughts on the “something just clicked” theme was either something to do with things with contacts or maybe songs with finger clicks (Under pressure by Queen and David Bowie is my favorite).
In the end, though, it was all about mouse clicks and the many things we could DOWNLOAD to our desktop.
It’s rare that we have a game word longer than the spanframe, and I’m struggling to figure out how I completely failed to see the word APPLICATION.
Instead, I started with PHOTO, which kept me on a trail of “things with switches and buttons” until a hint gave me FILE and I changed my mind.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Tuesday, June 9, Game #828)
- SNACKS
- WAVES
- DECK
- SEA SICKNESS
- DRINK
- DANCE
- SPANGRAM: IMONABOAT
