- Clarkson’s farm season 5 episodes 5 and 6 are now available to stream on Prime Video
- Fans were concerned about the ‘mystery’ surrounding famous pig Richard Ham, who was introduced to the farm in season 4
- Jeremy Clarkson decided to get rid of all the pigs in season 5 episode 5 for financial reasons, but has kept Richard Ham
The greatest mystery of Clarkson’s farm season 5 – the whereabouts of beloved pig Richard Ham – has finally been resolved.
While Jeremy has had pigs on his farm Diddly Squat since the first season of the popular Prime Video series, Richard Ham, named after Top Gear colleague Richard Hammond, was introduced in season 4.
When the first four episodes of Season 5 aired last week, fans quickly became concerned that Richard Ham was nowhere to be seen. This was exacerbated by the fact that Jeremy decided to sell off all of his remaining pigs at the end of Season 5 Episode 4.
After his butcher reveals that Diddly Squat was making losses through their pork production, he is seen at the end of the episode saying his emotional goodbye to seemingly all the pigs left on the farm. While the youngest were understood to be sent to an abattoir, the two sows, Clumsy and Swizz, were rehomed at a nearby training centre.
But where did this leave Richard Ham? Clarkson’s farm season 5 episode 5 finally reveals that he’s alive and well… and has a whole new connection to Jeremy’s Top Gear past.

Halfway through Clarkson’s farm season 5 episode 5, Jeremy notices how quiet the bottom of the fields are now that the pigs have all been sold off. But all is not lost as Richard Ham is now the lone pig resident of Diddly Squat… or so it seems.
“I couldn’t let him go,” Jeremy tells the camera. “He can’t be a Fluffer anymore because there are no pigs to fluff. He can’t be eaten because… well, we just can’t.
“And we can’t breed him, so he just has to live here. But you can’t leave one pig alone,” he adds.
This is where we cut to a separate pen behind him and reveal that another pig is now slowly being integrated into Richard Ham’s room.
“So we have another boy pig so Richard Ham can have a friend. And who is Richard Hammond’s best friend?” Jeremy continues.
“I can’t have a pig named James May,” he tells partner Lisa. “What about James Boar?” he adds as the pair burst into laughter.
In theirs Top Gear James May’s heyday was nicknamed ‘Captain Boring’ thanks to his characteristic style of explaining small details in a very verbose manner. So James Bore = James Boar… you see the obvious pun.
Although Jeremy seems very pleased with himself and his new pig name, we have yet to see how well Richard Ham and James Boar get on. With two episodes of Season 5 yet to be released, it is currently unconfirmed if the pigs will appear in them.
