ISLAMABAD:
The federal government has made it mandatory for all civil servants to declare details of any dual nationality within 90 days, formally initiating the implementation of the Foreign Nationality Rules 2026.
According to an office memorandum issued by the establishment department, the government has asked all public servants to submit a comprehensive declaration of their citizenship status within the stipulated time frame.
Under the new framework, which came into force on 1 June, a special declaration form relating to dual citizenship has been prepared and circulated to all ministries, departments and relevant departments for compliance.
The memorandum states that all officials and employees are now required to disclose full information about any foreign citizenship, passport, permanent resident status or other overseas affiliations.
In addition, officials have been instructed to provide details of the citizenship and immigration status of their spouses and dependent children. The move aims to ensure greater transparency in public service and maintain official records of foreign affiliations.
The government has also made it mandatory for new public service recruits to provide declarations of foreign citizenship and immigration status at the time of induction.
The office’s memo warns that any official or employee who conceals facts or submits false information will face departmental action under the relevant rules.
It further emphasizes that information on participation in foreign immigration programs, travel documents and overseas residence is also mandatory.
Meanwhile, specific instructions have been issued to officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), especially those serving in the Customs and Excise Department, to submit their declaration forms by July 8.
