King Charles’ secret strength that kept him ruling Britain while battling cancer at the age of 77 has been laid bare.
The British monarch is not slowing down because of his commitment to the nations, but there is one big thing that helps him ‘keep going’ in any crisis.
Before ascending the throne, he must have taken a secret oath about his fated role.
Long before illness tested him in 2024 at the age of 75, King Charles seems to have anchored himself to one creed: “a monarch serves, he does not quit.”
It was never a public statement. But the duty, it seems, became his private vow—and cancer won’t make him break it.
There is no doubt that Charles’s determination and his mother’s teaching forced him to put on a brave face to face all the challenges.
But a healthy mind needs a healthy body, and King Charles’ strict diet kept him strong through cancer at this stage.
Like the rest of us, the King has to make drastic changes to his diet every now and then, and the latest one may come as something of a surprise to royal fans.
Although King Charles has previously been known to eat a larger, more nutritious and filling meal to start the day, it seems that he has started to ditch the bigger breakfasts.
He would try to have something healthy like cereal with nuts and fruit and a little honey. He has never been known to have large meals.
This comes as quite a change from the protein-heavy breakfasts the king and his wife have been known to favor in the past.
Five years ago, it was revealed on Clarence House’s official Instagram page that he was enjoying “cheesy baked eggs” for breakfast, including a photo of the delicious meal and a recipe.
With wilted spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, soft cheese and crème fraîche, on top of egg and cheese, it’s a very nutritious, but quite filling, choice of meal to start a long day.
It is common knowledge that the King often skips lunch, although that may not be the case anymore, especially if he opts for a smaller breakfast.
As you know, he doesn’t eat lunch. The unusual fact was even recognized by Clarence House in a list of 70 facts released for the King’s (formerly Prince Charles) 70th birthday.
Without explanation, number 20 on the list was: “The prince does not eat lunch.” But after his cancer diagnosis in 2024, Charles was reportedly advised to start eating lunch by his wife, Queen Camilla, as well as his doctors.
Charles prefers healthy and hearty meals with fresh produce – much of which is produced on his own Highgrove House estate.
The eco-warrior follows a mainly plant-based diet to reduce his carbon footprint. “For years I haven’t eaten meat and fish two days a week and I don’t eat dairy one day a week,” the royal told the BBC in 2021.
