Looking for a different day?
A new NEW Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone – meaning some people always play ‘today’s game’ while others play ‘yesterday’s’. If you’re looking for Thursday’s puzzle instead then click here: NEW Strand’s Hints and Answers for Thursday, June 25 (Game #844).
Strands is the NYT’s latest word game, following the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult though, so read on for my Strands tips.
Want more word-based fun? So check out my NYT Connections today and Quordle Today pages for tips and answers to these games, and Marc’s Wordle Today page for the original viral word game.

NEW Strands today (game #845) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #845, are…
- PASS
- HORN
- THREE
- BROTHERS
- TROLL
- BRIDGE
- SPANGRAM: BILLYGOATSGRUFF
- My assessment: Hard
- My score: 2 hints
Today I had to resist the temptation to go in search of things I could “swallow” like pizza, peanuts or chocolate (this was after seeing “beer” and “gyro”).
I tried to recall the children’s story that contained the phrase “I’ll swallow you!” but failed miserably due to the fact that pretty much everyone does.
It is, of course, BILLYGOATSGRUFF, which I discovered after two hints gave me PASS and HORNS; a typically gruesome tale where the phrase “I’ll swallow you up” is followed by “and put your bones in a sack!” Sleep well, children!
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Thursday, June 25, Game #844)
- FACE
- AROMATHERAPY
- ACUPUNCTURE
- MASSAGE
- SPANGRAM: SPA TREATMENT
