Gracie Abrams is good friends with Taylor Swift, but is also one of the young female musicians who are sorted into the Taylor Swift camp of pop stars due to certain similarities in music or lyrics.
However, the 26-year-old musician takes it as a compliment when she’s hailed up there with the Eras Tour artist, 36, as she herself celebrates the magnitude of Swift’s stardom.
The Risk hitmaker appeared for a deep and personal interview on New York Times podcast, Pop castahead of the release of her new album, Daughter from hell.
Abrams was asked how she feels about being compared to Love story hitmaker, who she said never “annoys” her and is an “honour” to be categorized alongside her.
Although she noted that there are major differences between her music and other artists’ music since Swift’s, she understands that the use of the global icon’s music as a subgenre in itself is the shorthand internet usage.
The It’s so true singer has always been vocal about her appreciation for Swift, and in the same interview, she talked about how all of the Grammy winner’s albums have been a soundtrack to her life at different times.
Abrams said that since Swift is ten years older than her, her music always made her long for what future experiences the singer wrote about.
