Will Spain win the World Cup?
Despite finishing third in the FIFA/Coca Cola rankings and winning the World Cup in 2010, Spain have had little luck at the world’s biggest football tournament in recent years. La Roja have failed to win a single World Cup knockout round since the team’s victory in South Africa. That said, the team has made a strong start in Group H and hopes to progress to the final on July 19.
With Rodri at the helm and star player Lamine Yamal on the wing, Spain are already favorites to win the tournament. After two games, the team sits third in ESPN’s power rankings and was Opta Analyst’s pick for the most likely winner based on 25,000 pre-tournament simulations. Still, the World Cup is nothing if not surprising, so it’s still too early to call.
Are there any La Liga players playing in the 2026 World Cup?
La Liga is one of the best-represented top domestic leagues at this year’s World Cup, with Bein Sports reporting that 86 players from Spain’s top two divisions are taking part in the tournament.
