Supergirl has finally hit theaters – and if you’re considering whether to see it, read my Supergirl review first to find out if it’s worth doing.
If you have already decided not As you watch the DC Universe (DCU) movie on the big screen, you might wonder when it will be available to watch at home.
So when might the Milly Alcock-fronted superhero film make its streaming debut? Below I’ve given my thoughts on its possible HBO Max release date, so read on to see when it might come to one of the world’s top streaming services.
Does Supergirl Have An HBO Max Release Date?
No. One of this year’s many new movies didn’t hit theaters globally until June 26, so it’ll be a while before it hits Warner Bros. Discovery’s (WBD) streaming platform.
That said, we can use some recent examples of WBD movies released on HBO Max to take an educated guess as to when it might join the service’s library.
Initially, Supermanthe first DCU Chapter One movie, dropped on HBO Max on September 19, 2025. That means it arrived on the platform exactly 70 days after its initial theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
If Supergirl comes with Superman‘s footsteps, it would see its HBO Max bow on September 4, 2026 – but how likely is that to happen?
Well, Warner Bros. movies that have come out this year and is now on HBO Max includes Wuthering Heights, The bride!and They will kill you. Oddly enough, this trio launched all of their original theatrical release dates on the service 77 days.
Should other films not yet be launched on HBO Max, such as Mortal Kombat II and Lee Cronin’s The Mummyalso arrive 77 days after their theatrical debut, Supergirl can correspondingly follow this release pattern and be available to stream at home on September 11th. (NB: Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is now confirmed to make its HBO Max debut on July 3rd, aka 77 days after its original release date).
However, given that the aforementioned date is when the 9/11 attacks, aka one of the most tragic events in American history, took place, I would be very surprised if the film formerly known as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow published on that date. So my best guess is that Supergirl will make its streaming bow on September 4th or 18th.
What is the run time of Supergirl?
Supergirl is one of the shortest superhero films of all time. Indeed, clocking in at just one hour and 47 minutes, Kara Zor-El’s second standalone film ever, which includes its end credits, is decidedly on the punchier side.
However, for those of you with small bladders, this means you may only need to take one bathroom break during your screening, if you need to take any at all!
