Residents reported heavy gunfire and a loud explosion in Block 6 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, triggering panic
Heavy gunfire and a loud explosion were reported in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday, triggering panic among residents.
According to reports, intense gunshots were heard near Meteorological Chowrangi on University Road. A loud explosion was also heard prior to the shooting incident.
Rescue 1122 spokesman said a report of an explosion near Gulistan-e-Johar Block 5 was received by Rescue 1122 on Saturday.
He said the central command and control at Rescue 1122 received the information and immediately sent a team to the scene of the incident.
He added that the Rescue 1122 team has reached the site and is currently assessing the situation on the ground.
After the reports, a large contingent of police arrived at the scene.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and contacted Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh and Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi.
According to the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, Shah has requested a detailed report on the incident from the Additional IGP Karachi.
He directed the police to immediately ascertain the nature of the incident, reach the spot without delay and ensure that all necessary measures are taken.
