Netflix users are furious over the platform’s latest update – now users have to use separate email addresses for account profiles, but some users think they’ve found a practical solution

  • Netflix users are prompted to add email addresses to their individual profiles
  • The platform says this will allow for separate logins while offering even more personalized recommendations
  • It seems convenient on paper, but users believe it could lead to another major downfall

Sharing Netflix accounts isn’t as easy today as it was in the mid-2010s, but now the top streaming service has another account breakout coming up that’s already getting under people’s skin.

A handful of users have noticed a new pop-up in the app that asks each member of a shared account to add individual email addresses to their individual profiles instead of using the account owner’s email address as the primary one. One of the most appalling parts about it is that the popup won’t clear unless the request is fulfilled.

This hasn’t yet rolled out to all Netflix account holders, but the company informed Ars Technica that the new log-in update began on June 15th, so we imagine a wider rollout is inevitable. The outlet also stated that this pop-up does not apply to profiles marked as belonging to children.

That’s all about to change, but why Netflix has decided to roll out another crackdown is the question everyone is asking.
