Mercedes Moné returned to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) to take on the challenge of winning the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament for the second time and earning a title shot at All In.
On Sunday night at Forbidden Door, Moné proved again why she is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world. She defeated upstart challenger Maya World in the finals.

World built momentum into the fight after the devastating loss of her brother. She defeated Skye Blue and Athena to get to the match against Moné. But her Cinderella run came to an abrupt end at the hands of Moné.
The fans seemed to get behind Moné as she taunted World at the start of the match. However, the two put on a great performance in front of the crowd in San Jose, California.

The world moves out – complicated pinning combos, complicated hard-hitting moves and even kicked out of Moné’s hardest slam. By the end of the match, the crowd was divided on who they were rooting for in the match. Moné tried not to be caught off guard by some of the world’s maneuvers. At one point, World hit Moné with a sunset powerbomb on the floor and a springboard.
Still, “CEO” wouldn’t stay down.
Moné kicked out of a pin attempt. Moné hit a backstab in a crossover. She got World tap out.
This is the first time an AEW wrestler has won the Owen Cup twice. She has been doing it for two years back. Last year, she came up short against Toni Storm for the AEW World Women’s Championship.
