Occupation2026’s breakout film, which has had the world talking since it hit theaters on May 15, is finally available to watch at home — but only if you live in certain countries.
The biggest surprise package of the year, which cost a reported $750,000 to make and – at the time of release – has nearly crossed $400m globally, is now out on some of the world’s top streaming services.
Right now in the US, you can rent the Curry Barker-directed supernatural horror-romance film on premium video on-demand (PVOD) platforms like Apple TV and Amazon for $19.99. Alternatively, you can permanently add it to your digital movie collection for $24.99.
For those who have been living under a rock for the past seven weeks and know nothing about it, Occupation tells the story of Bear (Michael Johnston), a lovesick loser who doesn’t know how to tell longtime crush Nicki (Inde Navarette) how he really feels.
However, Bear soon discovers a mysterious object called ‘One Wish Willow’, which is said to grant any wish a person wishes for. Long story short: Bear buys one and wants Nicki to love him more than anything in the world—and it doesn’t take long for him to realize he’s made a terrible, terrible mistake.
Driven by Navarette’s commendable outstanding performance and positive word of mouth, Occupation has had fans, well, obsessed for almost two months now. Armed with a simple yet highly effective narrative, deeply uncomfortable themes and subjects, and scenes that will stay with you long after its credits have rolled, it’s essentially this year’s Kpop Demon Huntersalbeit without an album’s worth of earworm songs and, you know, sure not be for children.

Ever since Occupation‘s home release was confirmed via whentostream.com, fans have been desperate to watch one of this year’s best-performing and highest-rated new movies from the comfort of their couch.
Unfortunately, movie fans in other territories aren’t so lucky, though moviegoers in the US can certainly check it out starting today (June 30). Indeed, in a thread about its digital platform release on r/movies, several fans have expressed disappointment that the darkly comedic, jump-scare-laden film isn’t available to watch at home in their region of the world.
Right now it seems that Occupation can be rented or purchased in the USA and New Zealand. However, I’ve checked Prime Video and Apple TV in the UK and it’s not available on any of the video on demand (VoD) services. There is also no indication of when that will be.
Hopefully it won’t last much longer Occupation is making its way onto PVOD platforms globally – and, when its juggernaut box office run finally ends, other streamers including Peacock (US) and Netflix (international). Until then, just watch it at your local theater for the 10th time.
