At least two children were killed and more than 20 people were injured in separate lightning strikes in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, officials said.
In Khyber district, lightning struck a house in Zakhak Hail Bazaar area of Landi Kotal, killing two children and injuring members of the same family.
Confirming the deaths, Assistant Sub-Inspector Azmat Wali of Landi Kotal police station said lightning struck a home in the morning. He said two children were killed while two others were injured.

He said the house was also damaged during the strike and all the injured belonged to the same family. The residents launched rescue operations and took the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment, with one of the injured in critical condition.
Police and other relevant authorities assessed the damage and obtained further details of the incident, while condolences were extended to the bereaved family.
In a separate incident, lightning struck a women’s seminary in the Wahri area of Upper Dir district, injuring 20 female students.
Wahri Assistant Commissioner Aftab Alam said the incident took place while classes were in progress at the seminary where about 250 girls were enrolled.
He said all the injured students were shifted to Tehsil headquarters Hospital Wahri for treatment, adding that they were reported to be out of danger.
