The new movie Minions and monstershas become the highest-rated film in the Despicable Me franchise after earning the best Rotten Tomatoes score in the franchise.
The animated film, which was released on July 1, now has a critics score of 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
This makes it the highest rated film out of all seven films in the Despicable Me and Minions series.
Before this, the first Despicable Me film from 2010 held the record with a score of 80 percent.
Despicable Me 2 scored 75 percent, while Minions: The Rise of Gru got 70 percent.
However, the other films in the series received lower scores.
Rotten Tomatoes called Minions & Monsters “the franchise’s most entertaining entry to date.”
The website also described it as “a loving and charming send-up of movie magic.”
The film is directed by Pierre Coffin, who also co-wrote it with Brian Lynch.
The voice cast includes Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg and Zoey Deutch.
Many critics have also shared good reviews. Clint Worthington gave the film three and a half stars out of four.
Drew Taylor of TheWrap said it could be the best film in the series since the first Despicable Me.
