Looking for a different day?
A new NEW Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone – meaning some people always play ‘today’s game’ while others play ‘yesterday’s’. If you’re looking for the Thursday puzzle instead then click here: NEW Strand’s Hints and Answers for Thursday, July 2nd (Game #851).

Want more word-based fun? So check out my NYT Connections today and Quordle Today pages for tips and answers to these games, and Marc’s Wordle Today page for the original viral word game.

“It’s like talking to a brick wall”. I know exactly how that feels, thanks to growing up with a father to whom all the words of the day could apply – I’d add a few more, given the space.
Maybe that’s why I found the search easy, despite a few well-hidden words and a spangram that defied the normal top-to-bottom, side-by-side routine.
It was much more difficult afterwards to search the board for words that were not games.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Thursday, July 2nd, Game #851)
- BECHAMEL
- MARINARA
- Sriracha
- TERIYAKI
- TZATZIKI
- SPANGRAM: GETSAUCY
