Take The Insane Clown Posse’s Violent J. He gave a passionate reason why he loves professional wrestling in a recent interview with Pakinomist Digital. He said it was Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania 3 that helped solidify the passion he had for professional wrestling.

“But wrestling, there’s nothing like pro wrestling in America,” he said. “There’s nothing like that, bro. It’s like a lot of people call a male soap opera, male soap opera. It’s like you’ve got two guys in the middle of the ring faking a fight, right? And you’ve got 70, 80,000 people trapped in the moment. It’s like you have a chance to create a character for yourself that plays and sells that character, but doesn’t just have those who play and sell that character and don’t have that character to perform.skills, but you must also have the adlib skills.

“You have to make people want to come and see you kick that guy’s one– or make you want to come and see you get revenge. You also have to have the physicality. You have to physically be able to go in the ring and tell that story. There’s so much psychological warfare in wrestling. There’s so much psychological stuff that goes into it. You can’t know when to just throw a punch. To know when to make your comeback. You can’t just do it anytime.

Violent J said there is nothing he could compare professional wrestling to. But “male soap opera” might be the best description.

He said that being able to watch pro wrestling is something that gives him peace.

“There’s so much to it, and I don’t know what else to compare it to,” he said. “There’s nothing like wrestling. Like there’s literally nothing else like it. It’s so different from anything else in the stratosphere that like, I’ve just loved it my whole life. And now at 53, I get to enjoy watching it. Especially old s—,. watching the s— I grew up on.

It soothes my anxiety. Like it’s been there my whole life. So it’s like watching the old footage, it’s like therapy for me. It’s been there my whole life. And then, like even in my studio, I have posters of old wrestlers everywhere and everything, it seems to calm my anxiety. It’s like something that takes me back to my childhood, you know? So wrestling is just, it’s in my heart. It’s in my blood. It’s in my DNA. Do you know what I mean? As much as music, but music is the real therapy for me. I need to make music or I’ll explode.”
