Spain’s thrilling FIFA World Cup victory over Argentina in extra time was marred by a post-match brawl involving Leandro Paredes and Eric García.
The aggressive tackling and chippyness from the Argentine side led to a confrontation between the two teams. Paredes was seen coming over to a post-match confrontation between players from the two nations and putting his hand on García’s neck.

Paredes received a red shortly after the whistle and was sent off. He was also booked during the match for a hard tackle shortly after entering the match.
Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni was held back by a Spanish player while shouting at someone. Nicolas Otamendi exchanged words with several Spanish players, including Rodri.
“We are gracious in victory and we must be so in defeat,” Scaloni said via ESPN. “We accept the loss, we gave everything. We were stretched when we got into this, but to give everything like they did today is a good example for our people and our country.

The BBC’s Joe Hart ripped Argentina over the brawl.
“There was one man on the pitch who had class and it was Lionel Messi who shook hands with every one of the Spanish players,” he said via Goal.com. “Game over. They could have absolutely no complaints about what happened today. Disgusting behavior.”
