This was a game that started out easy and ended up confusing.
After collecting the obvious pieces of clothing in GOWN, TUNIC and PINAFORE, what was left on the board was a letter soup with no clear words at all. After assembling the spanframe, I saw KIMONO, but then drew a subject.
I needed a hint to get DIRNDL – the name for an alpine dress – which left me with MUUMUU, another garment I hadn’t previously heard of but now know, thanks to Wikipedia, is a loose dress of Hawaiian origin.

Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new-anymore word game, following Wordle and Connections. It’s now a full-fledged member of NYT’s game stable that’s been running for a year and can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
