FO says comments sought to undermine internationally recognized facts; undermine peace and security
Pakistan warned on Monday that India “must not underestimate the unwavering resolve and determination of the people and government of Pakistan to thwart any Indian adventurism,” saying comments by the Indian defense minister on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute distorted internationally recognized facts and reflected New Delhi’s policy of threatening regional peace and security, according to a Foreign Office (FO) statement.
In the statement, the FO said that Pakistan “condemns in the strongest possible terms the highly provocative and irresponsible comments made by the Indian Defense Minister in connection with the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.”

The FO said the Indian minister’s statement “not only distorts the facts of the UN and internationally recognized Jammu and Kashmir conflict, which remains on the agenda of the UN Security Council”, but also “shows the Indian government’s deliberate policy to threaten regional and international peace and security.”
According to the statement, the remarks were an attempt to shift focus away from India’s own actions. The FO said: “Such insinuations are an attempt to divert attention from India’s continued occupation of Indian illegally occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), its sponsorship of terrorism across the region, as well as its domestic instability.”
Rejecting what it described as India’s “misplaced rhetoric of aggression and belligerence,” the State Department warned that India “must not underestimate the people and government of Pakistan’s steadfast resolve and determination to counter any Indian adventurism.” It added that this resolve had already been demonstrated by “the entire Pakistani nation and its valiant armed forces during Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos last year.”
The FO further urged the international community to take notice of India’s conduct, saying that Pakistan “calls on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take note of India’s continued reckless behavior and to hold it accountable for its failure to uphold the relevant UN Security Council resolutions guaranteeing the right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to self-determination.”

The statement reiterated Pakistan’s position that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains an internationally recognized issue on the UN Security Council agenda and maintained that the relevant UN resolutions guarantee the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It said the Indian defense minister’s comments sought to undermine these internationally recognized facts and reflected policies that, according to Pakistan, jeopardize both regional and international peace and security.
The FO’s condemnation came a day after Defense Minister Khawaja Asif dismissed the same remarks by his Indian counterpart, Rajnath Singh, saying they could neither change the internationally recognized disputed status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) nor change established legal realities.

In a statement issued on X Sunday, Asif said India’s attempt to misrepresent internationally recognized legal facts through “intimidation and threatening rhetoric” would not change the reality on the ground. He said Pakistan “categorically rejects the irresponsible statements of the Indian defense minister,” describing them as yet another attempt to distort internationally recognized legal facts through “political rhetoric and coercion.”
He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the internationally recognized legal framework governing the Kashmir dispute and said Islamabad rejected any attempt to undermine it through unilateral statements or political rhetoric.
