The fifth and final major of the season is set to be electric, with so many of the top contenders out to fulfill lofty personal ambitions at Royal Lytham & St Annes, none more so than Ryu Hae-ran and Nelly Korda.

With victory, Miyu Yamashita would become the first player to go back-to-back in a major since Yani Tseng in 2011, a scenario not out of the question on current form. The 24-year-old has reached the top five in four of the last six tournaments she has entered.
Yamashita’s triumph a year ago transferred Charley Hull to her second Women’s Open runner-up in three years, but she has a big reason to be cheerful this weekend: the last two winners of the Women’s Open at Royal Lytham were British.
