- According to a former Rockstar developer, GTA 6 could run with 30 fps on consoles
- Mike York believes the study “shoots for 30fps” on PS5 and Xbox Series X and 60fps on PC
- The former DEV does not think players get “60fps raw out of the gate on a base console”
A former Rockstar developer has said Grand Theft Auto 6 will be locked at 30 FPS on PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
In a now-slapped Kiwi Talkz-Podcast episode, Mike York, who previously worked on Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 As Animator shared his thoughts on the next Gta entry and expect the game to run on 30 fps on console (Thanks, Games Radar).
“I don’t know if they will be able to pull off 60 FPS,” York said. “I don’t think so. I think they’ll shoot for 30 fps – and a locked 30 fps, which means it never dips under it.
“They will try to optimize as much as they can, where it never goes under 30. But it may be up to 40, 41, 52, no matter what, and I bet on you, as later when it is first on PC , It will probably be super optimized and changed and new graphics cards coming out and you will be able to run it on 60 fps probably at the time.
When GTA 5 First launched in 2013, the game ran 30fps on PS3 and Xbox 360, but later received a 60fps upgrade when the game eventually came to PS5 and Xbox Series X. IF GTA 6 Launches locked on 30 FPS, we will probably see a similar lift in the service next nuisance.
“I don’t think [at the] first release it comes out on 60 fps unless it gets the 60 fps with [using] An AI -UpScaler -Ting like PlayStation does unless something comes in and helps it get the 60fps, “York added.” I don’t think it gets 60fps raw out of the gate on a base console. PS5, for example. Maybe PS5 Pro, or whatever, but I still don’t think.
“I don’t know what they’re doing over there. I don’t know how massive this will be. But from my experience they will push any little freaking thing they can out of it and then optimize later for 60 images because it is not so Important as just doing the game great on 30 pictures.
GTA 6 expected to be launched in the fall of 2025, but it is unclear when the potential PC version will be released.
