Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a pay rise for MPs, Express News reported Friday.
The decision follows the recommendations of the Finance Committee and the new salaries will take effect from January. According to the new event, each MP receives a monthly salary of RS519,000.
However, it is important to note that the wages for the speaker and vice president of the National Assembly have not increased.
Both the speaker and the vice president will continue to receive their current monthly salary of RS218,000.
In response to inquiries, the speaker office clarified that the Finance Committee does not have the authority to increase wages for the speaker and the vice president.
