David Lynch, an iconic filmmaker, died recently, and Denis Villeneuve remembers him in glowing words.

At the Saturn Awards, the Canadian filmmaker sheds light on the action of the deceased director who also made an adaptation of Dune.

“It wouldn’t have been possible to meet him between both [Dune] film. I wanted and dreamed of meeting him when it would be done just to … paid tribute to him, ”the instructor continued.

“I’m very sorry he didn’t have a wonderful experience with his own adaptation. At the same time from my understanding, the pain he endured during making his own version of the dune, to us blue velvet, and then wild in heart And the whole … there was an energy that came out of it, ”the 57-year-old added.

“So I don’t know it’s very deeply sad that he left us. It’s like, you know there are some filmmakers that when he left, it’s like a planet that left the solar system. It’s really like he was his own planet.

“But there is some comfort knowing that he was still alive, completely creative, that he would do another project. He is still here. Whatever I’m a big fan. Yes,” Denis concluded.

A lifetime smoker, David was diagnosed with emphysema, a lung disease, in 2024. He died on January 15. He was 78 years old.
