Karachi:

The inconvenient killing of people by faster dumping driven by untrent and often drunk drivers has sent shock waves over the government as well as political and social circles.

Sindh minister for excise duty and taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has ordered strict action against unregistered dumpers in the city.

The Secretary’s Excise and Taxation held a meeting to consider increasing incidents with death and injury due to rapid dumpers; Many of these turned out to be unregistered.

Chawla, who approached the meeting, said that drivers in fast dumpers killed people almost every day in the metropolis.

He said the point department will cooperate with the traffic police to obtain unregistered dumpers. The meeting joined crashes on illegal dumpers.

Separately, SINDH Governor Kamran Tessori urged the implementation of times set for heavy traffic in the city. Heavy traffic is allowed in city limits only from 1 p.m. 12 to 7, but dumpers, tankers and trucks continue to lay on the roads around the clock, especially in the Rushims. Tessori pressed to impose the curfew to heavy traffic in the city.

Roads or deaths

Eleven people killed in 24 hours due to bus car and dumping collisions should be enough to wake up authorities, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan said. MQM-P’s parliamentary leader and his deputy in the Sindh assembly have expressed serious concern about the alarming number of traffic accidents in the metropolis, where 11 people lost their lives in various events within the last 24 hours.

In a statement released on Thursday, MQM-P parliamentary leader IFTIKHAR Alam “dumps mafia’s” ruthless actions “and illegal trailer operating in the city.” Their uncontrolled movements have become a huge threat to public security, ” he added.

ALAM criticized the Sindh government and traffic police for their inability and said they are merely passive observers, which has contributed to the rising accident rate.

Alam called for strict enforcement of designated operating times for dumpers and trailers to improve citizens’ safety on roads.

Meanwhile, MQM-P-vice parliamentary leader Taha Ahmed Khan strongly criticized the Sindh government for his “lack of safe road safety”, which accuses its incompetence of the rising death toll on the city’s roads.

“Karachi’s roads have become death traps! Uncontrolled dumpers claim innocent life – who is responsible?” Taha Ahmed Khan asked. He condemned the SINDH government’s 15-year period and argued that despite a decision for over a decade, it has not provided yet basic traffic safety measures for citizens.

He urged the government to immediately enforce time limitations on heavy traffic and ensure that large vehicles are excluded from the city’s main roads in the peak load. The MQM-P leader emphasized the need for stricter laws to regulate heavy vehicles and prevent additional tragedies. “MQM-P stands with the victims and requires immediate action to control heavy traffic in Karachi,” he claimed.
