‘Govt cannot allow repetition of 9 May’

Sialkot:

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that a number of international events are taking place in the country right now, and the government cannot allow PTI to repeat what the opposition party allegedly did on May 9, 2023 and November 26, 2024.

“PTI has been engaged in the obstruction policy. Every time something happens that improves Pakistan’s status in Nations Comity, this party begins to create evil,” said Asif, who belongs to the reigning PML-N while he approached the media in his Hometown of Sialkot.

“Today is being observed as a day of development and progress, but PTI continues its policy for chaos and protests. The undermining of the importance of any global event has become its hallmark,” he added.

The defense minister spoke with reference to PTI’s planned rally in Lahore at the first anniversary of last year’s parliamentary elections, which the party described as very rigged.

District Administration of Lahore on Thursday refused permission to the party to hold the rally.

In a circular issued by the Lahore vice commissioner, it was stated that it was not possible to authorize the party as the month of February was “saturated with a number of high-profile events of national and international importance.”

However, PTI had moved on with his planned rally in the Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the party rules. When he spoke with reference to the rally, Khawaja Asif said government machines and resources are used ruthlessly in Swabi.

He said that political gatherings held in traditions were not critical, but the PTI management had a pattern of marching on Islamabad.

“The true leadership of PTI has fallen victim to the conspiracies of a particular group within their party. PTI’s attitude turns out to be harmful to Pakistan’s interests.

“They planned their protest the same day as the Champions Trophy match. A repeat of the events on May 9 and November 26 will not be allowed,” he added.
