It may not be uncommon for two teammates who play the same position to secretly mess against each other. But that’s not what happens to Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier.
Allgeier ran for over 1,000 meters in his rookie season in 2022, but just a few months after his first campaign was wrapped, Atlanta Falcons chose Robinson with the eighth total election in the NFL draft.
When Robinson was a star in Texas, the writing on the wall for Allgeier was to complement Robinson.
But it was fine with him. From the field they are “best friends,” Robinson said.

“I feel like a working environment that is cool, but also having it off the field, it just brings us even closer. So that working environment is easy. It’s not forced. I think it’s just having they Relationships that are not forced so natural and amazing to have.
“From the pitch we became the best friends,” Robinson added. “This is my brother. I can trust him for everything and anything. That we are here in the Super Bowl doing something together, that’s all you can pray for.”
Of course, they worked with Bounty to be each other’s wingman in front of the Super Bowl.
“You can’t have football without wings and you can’t have wings without bounty. That’s the most important thing. But having my wingman right here? Can’t get better,” said Allgeier.
“I think our relationship is like bounty and wings. It’s literally the same thing. You can’t have one without the other,” Robinson added. “To me this is one of the best running backs in the league. There is no backup at all in his title.
“For me to share the field with him, and for when I get tired he goes in when he gets tired I will go in. We are just trying to play off each other and just have fun with it. We have a coach, that allows us to maximize our abilities.
Like the running backs, it was the same when Falcons, just one months after the signing of Kirk Cousins, drew up Michael Penix with the eighth total election in the 2024 NFL draft. Penix eventually took the Cousins’ job, but there was nothing awkward between the two at all, the back said.

“It was just good to see Kirk handle it the right way. He never wobbled, he never got angry or was disappointed, ‘” Robinson said. “He got the right to work. He got the right to help Mike become the one he wants to stay. Even with Mike he was so selfless and would learn and get connections with all of us as players on the offense.
“I was never a love/hate or hate, relationship at all. It was just support and when you got a guy who can really learn under a veterinarian for a whole season than just that he should start with immediately as a rookie -quarterback.
Added allgeier, “Being there at the same time as Kirk, and especially having Kirk as a role model, I think he set the standard for what a veterinarian and a big quarterback is to be in this league. He could be under his wing And just chip away on it.

It is unclear what cousins’ future in Atlanta is. But after many were confused by Atlanta Picking Penix, it seems that they were making a smart move and thinking outside the box.
