Internal rift elaborates in MQM-P when workers protest over leadership switching

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) faces internal turmoil following an organizational switching that has given rise to protests among party workers and highlighted management departments.

The restructuring, which was announced on Saturday, placed senior people, including Anees Qaimkhani, Aminul Haq and Dr. Farooq Sattar in key positions in the Central Organization Committee.

However, the move was met with resistance from the party’s ranks as workers gathered in the Bahadurabad headquarters and required more transparency and consultation in management decisions.

During the demonstration, the workers shouted in support of the party’s conversations Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, while expressing opposition to former Karachi Mayor Mustafa Kamal, who remains a divisive figure in MQM-P.

The group also protested against Sindh-Governor Kamran Tessori’s task as responsibility for the provincial parliamentary committee.

A video circulating on social media shows the two groups that clash.

Some members accused the management of sidelines key figures without prior discussion, while reports suggested that less scrubes broke out between party workers and officials during the protest.

Adding to the excitement, speculation of Sindh -Governor Kamran Tessori’s role in the switching, with unconfirmed reports suggesting that slogans were bred against him.

Despite the growing dissent, MQM-P leaders tried to neglect the crisis. Farooq Sattar defended Siddiqui and rejected any proposal for a vote without confidence against him.

“There is no need for such a movement, and the party’s constitution does not take care of it either,” Sattar said.

He called for unity and warned that any ward at this time would weaken the party and harm its political status. Sattar acknowledged that there were differences, but insisted that they be handled internally.

He added that any concerns derived from previous merger agreements between party regions could be resolved through dialogue.

In response to the turmoil, MQM-P released a statement that rejected reports of a major split.

The party claimed that “certain elements” on social media deliberately exaggerated the situation to create internal dispute.

“A well-planned attempt is made to damage MQM-P’s device,” the statement reads. It called on workers to remain disciplined and not fall for wrong information.

MQM-P also called on media to verify information before sending out news of internal party cases, insisting that it remains a democratic organization where differences are natural and addressed within the party structure.
